Who we are

Who we are

First News is the UK’s only children’s newspaper. Established in 2006, the paper reaches over 2.6 million young people every week, both at home and in schools. Available on newsstands and via subscriptions in print and digital, our aim is to inform and educate children about what’s happening in the world around them. It also gives them a platform to share their own ideas and opinions.

Our news is not just written for young people but by them too, encouraging the next generation of budding journalists to have their voices heard via our News Clubs. Besides our award-winning newspaper, we also have a digital app with daily stories and puzzles, and a suite of news-based ed-tech learning solutions with options for everyone.

What we believe

What we believe

While they might only make up 30% of the world’s population, children are 100% of its future.

First News has never been more important – a trusted source of reliable, unbiased news and information. A place where children can calmly process and make sense of the world away from unregulated platforms that seek to control their minds. Our goal is to inform and inspire the next generation so they are prepared to deal with the complexities of growing up in today’s world.

What we do

We don’t like to brag but…

We are proud to have been named Niche Newspaper of the Year Award (2023 and 2012), Best National Newspaper at the Plain English Campaign Media Awards (2011) and Best National Weekly Newspaper of the Year (2012).
