Are you worried about what your pupils are being told about the news?

Are you hearing concerning talk in the playground?

Are you coming across misconceptions in the classroom arising from children accessing unreliable and/or biased sources?

If so, you are not alone. All over the country – and in the absence of clear guidance from the DfE – teachers across every phase are working out how best they can support young people to develop into informed, empowered citizens, able to form evidenced opinions and assess the reliability of what they are being asked to believe.

First News and the National Literacy Trust invite you to join us for an exclusive webinar looking at this issue. Nicky Cox MBE, founding editor-in-chief of First News will be joined by Tim Judge, head of school programmes at the NLT and chair of the News Literacy Network to talk about what making sense of the news might look like in schools – answering teachers’ questions and sharing advice and insights from their combined years of experience in education and the media.
