It’s completely free to set up and run! You will be given free access to FYI: For Your Information, the BAFTA award-winning weekly news show from Sky Kids, as well as sent free resources to run your club! Find out more below.
What is FYI?
First News has teamed up with the BAFTA award winning Sky Kids weekly news show FYI: For Your Info. Each week, the FYI team of young reporters investigate the big issues young people need to know about. There are reports from around the globe, explainers, debates, Fake News or Fact?, “Kidversations” between young people around the world, and in-depth reporting. Each episode is freely available to watch here on the First News Education TV section of our website.
What is the First News FYI News Club?
The First News FYI News Club provides pupils with an opportunity to develop their communication skills and build their confidence in a social, extra-curricular setting. Discussing the news grows pupils’ understanding of the world around them and gives them the opportunity to explore global issues. It will also increase their awareness of how misinformation is spread and how to spot it.
An extra-curricular First News FYI News Club at your school will:
– Grow students’ understanding of world news and global issues
– Develop their communication skills
– Build students’ confidence in a social, group setting
– Increase their awareness of how misinformation is spread on social media and how to spot it

STEP 4: Get Involved
We want to give our First News FYI News Club members the opportunity to write for the newspaper and report for the show. Each week, you can let us know what you found most interesting in the news and tell us news stories you would like us to cover via the link we send in our weekly email. If you do, we could be in touch to get you reporting on the show!
Get Involved!
Calling all young journalists! We want readers of First News and viewers of FYI to have your say on the big issues that affect you and to send in your own ideas for a story you are passionate about to have it featured in the paper or on the show. We might ask you to make a report yourself to be featured in First News and on FYI and could come to you to help you film and write up your story. The News Club is all about giving your pupils a chance to have their say in First News and on FYI.
